lush cupcake fresh face mask

Welll helloooo there and let me tell you about the newest addition to my skin care routine.

While I am no stranger to Lush or their fresh face masks I have discovered the best one on the shelf. But first let's talk about the Lush Fresh Face Masks in general. There are 9 different types in total and each one targets a different skin care concern. These are made with all natural ingredients, are meant to be kept in the fridge, and last about two to three weeks. (All Lush products have an expiration date) At $6.95 a jar they are a nice little treat for when you are feeling down and need some pamper time. Lush also has a recycling program where if you return 5 of the pots that these come in you get one for free! Oh how they get me with those gimmicks... I have tried four (Cupcake, Catastrophe Cosmetic, Love Lettuce, and Cosmetic Warrior) of the different ones but let's talk about my obsession.

I always avoided purchasing the Cupcake mask, even though it is meant for my skin type, because it smells like chocolate cake. And while there is almost nothing I love more in this world than chocolate ice cream, I HATE CHOCOLATE CAKE. Like literally, it is one of the most disgusting things ever. I hate yucking someone else's yum but YUCK! Anyway, I gave in a couple of weeks ago and purchased it.

Lush, I don't know what kind of magical beans you are putting in this mask or how it manages to control the oils on my face so well but HOLY GUACAMOLE it does. OILY SKIN GIRLS THIS IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND.

I use a traditional foundation brush to smooth it on my skin and leave it on for about ten minutes. I like to use these right before I get in the shower because they can be pretty messy when you are taking them off. Also, try using your Clarisonic to take the mask off! (Love that thing!)

I strongly urge you to go pick up any of these masks. Ask a sales person to help you (although I don't know how you could manage to walk into Lush and not have five sales people bombarding you) or do some research online before you go. (I personally almost always look online before shopping, it really helps me not overspend because I know what I am going into the shop to get.)

Since this post has had waaaayyyy tooo many sentences in parenthesis I am going to end it here. Let me know if y'all try these or if there is another one you think I would like!

empties #1 - makeup

Today I am going to share with you some makeup products that I have completely used up. I feel like I should give a little disclaimer and say that I do a good amount of research before buying a product and rarely do I not finish a product that I have purchased.

Let's do it:

1. Make Up Forever HD Invisible Cover Foundation - This shit is good. Like really good. I would definitely repurchase this.

2. Laura Mercier Oil-Free Primer - This is one of my favorite primers of all time. It keeps my skin matte and my make up on all day and BONUS POINTS it is silicon free so it does not clog my pores. I would definitely repurchase this.

3. Givenchy Mister Light Corrective Pen - Givenchy's version of YSL Touche Eclat. It does this job but for the price I would stick with the original.

4. E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner - It's $1 and is the easiest eyeliner to work with. I have already repurchased it and will continue to do so.

5. MAC Eyeshadow in Naked Lunch and Typographic - Naked Lunch is the perfect everyday color. I have already repurchased this. Typographic is a dark gray almost black. It's really pretty but since I have so many other black eyeshadows I don't feel the need to repurchase this back into my collection.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products or your favorite products that you have used up!

friday favorite - cream blush

This week's Friday favorite is not so much a specific product but is instead an entire product type.

I have always feared cream products due to my oily skin. But recently I have been feeling like no matter what I do my makeup looks cakey and the only thing worse than cake face are bad eyebrows. I figured that cream blush was a good way to combat my cake face issues and let me tell you it is.

I decided to purchase a cream blush on the inexpensive side just in case this was a science experiment gone wrong. I ran to Ulta and picked up the NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Hot Pink and I love it! I can't believe I have been avoiding this product for so long.

I know what you're thinking "but Erin what about your oily skin?!" I have been setting this with Rimmel Stay Matter Pressed Powder and it keeps the oil away.

Now that I am open to cream blush are there any I should try? Y'all help me out!!

sometimes things are ROUGH

Before I begin this let me just say that I love make up. Like I love it. But some days no matter what I do nothing goes my way. Let's talk these out in one giant venting session...

1. When my eyes start to water in the middle of doing my eye make up and then DON'T STOP WATERING FOR THE ENTIRE DAY. WTF is this? Stop it. Stop it now. No waterproof makeup is waterproof enough for the constant flow of tears streaming from my eyeballs for the next 8 hours. This is made worse on a work day when I have to stare at the computer. Cool. I didn't want to look cute any way.

2. When my concealer doesn't want to cover my pimples. Some days no matter how much you try there is nothing you can do to stop those pimples from showing through the 15 coats of foundation, concealer, and powder you put on. Conveniently this happens on the day when you either a. see that hot hipster you have been crushing on or b. have a date. (Not that I've been on a date in the last five years)

3. When you get out into the sunlight after doing your makeup indoors and realize that your face is a different color then the rest of your body. Just call me Snooki over here cause that bronzer was way to dark for my current skin tone status. Great, now my coworkers think I go clubbing on the weekends. Someone order me a body con dress that is three sizes too small.

4. Winged Liner. All of the things that have to do with winged eyeliner are THE WORST. Your eyes are never going to match. Ever. Walk away from the liner. But...on that third magical Thursday in November after you sprinkled yourself with that fairy dust you bought at Disneyworld when you were 6 and then prayed to the makeup goddesses everything comes together and you feel hotter than Mila Kunis you remember that it's worth it to sit there for thirty minutes working on your right eye.

I hope y'all can relate to this...if not I am officially crazy. It's okay to not let me know this though.
Let's do this again sometime. It felt good to bitch it out.

friday favorite - laura mercier tinted moisturizer

Welcome to Friday favorite y'all! Every Friday I will be posting my most loved/reached for product of the week. This week it is an oldie but a goodie.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

I know you are all probably like, "Erin, we know how good this stuff is!" I know, I know but, it is seriously just so good and it has been my obsession lately. I can't figure out why I stopped using this stuff. Since my skin has been so good lately I have not been as scared to let it show. This is the best product for light coverage that still lets your natural skin show through. I have been wearing this every time I put on makeup (I have been going without makeup more often than not lately). When I set it with BENEFIT COSMETICS The POREfessional Agent Zero Shine I am left with the most flawless looking skin.

If you haven't tried this you should definitely RUN to your nearest Sephora or Nordstrom counter to pick it up.

Fall Lust List - Fashion

I lost it in Nordstrom's the other day. Like full on lost it. I was in full on fall fashion mode and I couldn't stop myself. Once I left the mall I remembered that it is still 100 degrees in Texas and it is going to be a long time before I can wear any of this. Until then, I will continue lusting over the clothes hanging in my closet.
